Gate Safety Training
In April 2013 Jill Lunn, a grandmother aged 56 was sadly killed when an incorrectly installed gate fell on top of her. The gate fitter, Mr Churchyard, has been found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence and jailed for 30 months. The company whom he worked for also pleaded guilty and was fined £12,000.
This needless tragedy could have been prevented by basic health and safety awareness. As a DHF and GATE SAFE member, SEA UK can offer FREE gate safety training. Our broad range of experience helps us summarise and condense complicated safety practices into easy to manage steps which can bring you up to speed with automatic gate safety.
Jof Reynolds, SEA UK’s MD describes the training process, “A lot of electricians come to us having just taken on an automatic gate system, often as part of a larger job. We have to go right back to basics and build their knowledge from the ground up using working examples and full-size gates.”
Jof goes on to say, “One of our procedures is to make sure the companies who come to can use our risk assessment form correctly, that way they can spot hazards on site giving them the chance to call us if they need more help, often a company won’t see the danger that’s right in front of them because its unfamiliar”
As well as gate safety equipment SEA offer a complete range of electric gate operators, intercoms, locks and cabling. The range of electric gate system covers both domestic driveway way gates, commercial gate applications and huge industrial gate projects. Gate actuators such as the hydraulic Half Tank and Mini Tank provide top range industrial performance to residential customers while current sensing electro mechanical systems such as the Field underground or Lepus sliding electric gate system lead the way in 230V current sensing.
SEA’s focus on ease of use and engineering quality have led to the creation of the DG range of electric gate control panels. Common features and wiring layouts help installers complete their work quickly and safely.
SEA UK specialise in supporting companies who are new, or inexperienced in the gate automation industry. We provide: bespoke literature, advanced technical support, simple innovative safety products and reliable CAT 2 and CAT 3 control systems.
