Sontay, renowned manufacturer and leading distributer of sensing, measurement and control devices for intelligent buildings, has revealed the latest addition to its existing Smart Communication range, the SC-IO-24 I/O Module. This new I/O Module offers the ability to take inputs from standard field devices and transmit them over BACnet or Modbus protocols. It is also a cost effective solution for expanding I/O on an existing controller.
The Sontay SC-IO-24 Smart Communication I/O-Module allows the system to extend when itrequires additional inputs and outputs on a physical controller. The SC-IO-24 has ten inputs, made up of two digital inputs and eight universal inputs, as well as two universal, two analogue and six digital outputs offering complete flexibility with great capability in just one unit. Its installation is also very straightforward. The device has ten override switches to manually control each output, DIN rail mounting and two-part raising cage terminals throughout.
This clever unit enables users to select either BACnet or ModBus smart communication protocols via a DIP switch. The MAC address is also selected via DIP switches. With its numerous impressive features such as LED indication status, automatic baud rate detection and device instance configuration for BACnet, or configurable parity and stop bits forModBus, this product is an ideal solution for communication between the Building Management System (BMS) controller and plant control hardware.
This Smart Communication I/O Module enhances Sontay’s highly regarded existing range of I/O modules. These digital input multiplexes and relay output modules are responsible for converting and rescaling input to the desired format suitable for a wide range of control formats such as three-point, linear modulating, ON/OFF and pneumatic control. The devices connect to a BMS controller and respectively expand the input and output count.
Sandy Damm, Managing Director at Sontay commented: “we are thrilled to introduce the new SC-IO-24 Smart Communication I/O Module. This new product delivers a simple and cost effective way of integrating the 20 I/O points and extending the user’s BMS system.”
