Whitstable developer George Wilson has won a trip to Las Vegas after entering a competition with electrical wholesaler Electricbase.
He was entered into the ‘Watt’s Up’ prize draw after spending more than £100 on his first order with Electricbase, the electrical and lighting specialist within builders’ merchant Buildbase.
Mr Wilson was up against thousands of tradespeople across the UK, who flocked to branches to win on-the-spot prize as well as to be in with a chance of taking the ultimate prize, a trip for two to Las Vegas.
He said: “I was shell shocked to hear I’d won. I’ve never been to America in my life. I’m a boxing fan, so I hope to see one of the big fights.”
SkillELECTRIC organiser NET is calling on electrical business owners and managers to put their best young electricians forward for the 2017 competition.
The window to enter SkillELECTRIC runs from March 1st to April 7th, and NET is looking for employers of final year apprentices or newly qualified electricians who think they are ready to compete against the best in their region.
NET will run the 2017 SkillELECTRIC competition.
The industry charity will organise the regional heats of the competition, co-ordinate the judging panel and liaise with the competition’s supporters and other sponsors.
Once the regional heats of SkillELECTRIC have been completed, NET will work with WorldSkills UK to deliver the national final at the Skills Show in Birmingham, where eight candidates from the regional heats will battle it out for the competition’s gold medal.

When using a cordless drill as an electrician the main thing I'm looking for is torque. I want to be able to drill through brick, instead going through the pain of changing over half way through a job to a more trusty corded drill. That's not the case with Bosch wireless drill as it has the torque to do everything required, of course depending on you using a decent masonry drill bit.
