Representatives of both employers and employees, of SELECT,  have come together in Scotland to press the case with Government for the protection of title for the occupation of an electrician, a move which it is estimated could boost the economy by £58 million.

In what is being seen as a critical juncture in the campaign by Scotland’s electricians for professional recognition, an MSP has formally raised a motion addressing the issue in the Scottish Parliament.
 

A steadily mounting campaign to ensure that every genuine electrician in Scotland is recognised as a regulated professional is being led by SELECT, the trade association for the electrical contracting industry in Scotland.

NES (North Electrical Services) Ltd, which has bases in Inverness and Elgin, has been shortlisted after a public vote for Business of the Year for firms with under 100 staff in the Scottish SME Business Awards.
